TARA THOMPSON

Tara Elise Thompson is a distinguished Advocate Attorney at Law and Certified Mediator and practices in the areas of Criminal Law, Civil Litigation, Property Law and Family Law.

Tara obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of The West Indies with Upper Second Class Honours and a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from Hugh Wooding Law School, with Merit. Ever pursuing professional development, Tara obtained a Masters in Mediation and Dispute Resolution (MSc), from the University of the West Indies, graduating with Distinction (summa cum laude) and was shortly thereafter certified as a Mediator.

Tara has acquired in-depth knowledge of the administration of justice from very early in her career, having worked as a Judicial Research Assistant, for two esteemed Judges of the Supreme Court in Trinidad and Tobago, for several years. In so doing Tara developed her legal research skills, often assisting with writing landmark judicial decisions.

As her career evolved, Tara took up employment as Advocate Counsel with the Legal Aid Department, a position which perfectly married her passion for advocacy and her keen interest in public service. During her tenure as a Public Defender, Tara has been lead Counsel in dozens of high-profile jury trials before the Supreme Court, with an unblemished record of victories.

Tara is the consummate dispute resolution practitioner and offers her clients the benefit of her considerable trial and court experience as well as her negotiation skills and expertise in Alternative Dispute Resolution, being a certified mediator.

Tara is civic minded, has a passion for public service and devotes considerable time to pro bono matters to deserving clients. She also routinely volunteers as a tutor with the Adult Literacy Tutors’ Association.

These skills, combined with her strong sense of professional and personal integrity, have contributed to her successes and achievements, both in academia and at the bar.

Gideon McMaster is an experienced and specialist Advocate Counsel at Atlantic Law Chambers. He is a licensed Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public in the Province of Ontario and is also certified in Ontario as a Foreign Legal Consultant for the jurisdiction of Trinidad & Tobago. Gideon is a cross-border practitioner and is routinely engaged in contentious litigation both in the courts of Ontario, Canada and in the courts of Trinidad & Tobago.

Gideon has represented several high profile corporate and private clients in heavily contentious disputes and has had direct conduct of matters involving; commercial law, contractual disputes, the regulation of companies, state agencies and associations, corporate governance, property disputes, injunctions and other applications for interim reliefs.

Gideon also has considerable experience in the area of Criminal Law, having appeared as Advocate Counsel in numerous criminal trials in the Supreme Court and Magistrates’ Court. He has defended clients accused of serious crimes including; drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud and white-collar offences, homicide, sexual assault and other serious criminal matters and has an impressive success record.

JOEL ROPER

Joel Roper obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with Honours from the University of London and his Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Joel’s areas of practise are Commercial Litigation, Company Law, Property Law, Wills and Estates and Family Law. Among Joel’s clients are several leading state agencies, government bodies and corporations in Trinidad and Tobago and elsewhere in the world.

Joel has appeared before numerous adjudicating tribunals, as Instructing Counsel, including the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Industrial Court, the Tax Appeal Board and the Family Court. Joel routinely instructs Senior Counsel and other leading Attorneys in diverse matters.

During his years of practise, Joel has developed a reputation of being an astute and tactical litigator, with deep knowledge of the law, civil procedure and the practice of civil litigation in general.

Justin Leung

Justin Leung is an Attorney-at-Law at Atlantic Law Chambers. Justin received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with Honours from University of London in 2014. After working as a paralegal for two-years at the legal department of a top Trinidad based law firm, he completed his legal studies at the University of Westminster in London where he received a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2017.

He was admitted to the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in 2018 and is a member of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago and the Law Society of England and Wales.

Justin practices in areas of Corporate Commercial Law and Litigation, Debt Collection, Personal Injury and Conveyancing. Justin has experience in reviewing agreements, transaction documents and corporate documents, conducting and managing due diligence reports and also provides corporate support to clients, including preparation of Minutes of Board Meetings, resolutions, company registry documents and general corporate advice.

Justin also provides advisory and dispute resolution services in both commercial and general civil disputes relating to land, tort, intellectual property, regulatory and contractual claims, amongst others. Gerard Boodram

Gerad Boodram obtained his LLB from the University of London with Honours. He completed his Postgraduate Diploma in the Legal Practice at the University of Law, Moorgate, London with a commendation and he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate with merit from the University of London.

Gerad specialized in Commercial Law, Civil Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property Law in the Legal Practice Course. His Postgraduate Certificate specializes in Financial Crime, Corporate Governance and Natural Resource Law.

After becoming a member of the Legal Bar of Trinidad and Tobago, Gerad practiced extensively in matters of Probate, Conveyancing and Commercial Litigation. Gerad has appeared as instructing attorney in numerous High Court and Supreme Court matters dealing with, inter alia; Property Disputes, Breach of Contract and Contentious Probate Matters.

Savatary Lopez is an Attorney at Law practicing in various areas including Child and Family Law, Commercial and Company Law, Wills and Probate Law, Conveyancing and Land. Savy has appeared before many adjudicating tribunals both as an advocate and an instructing Attorney.

Savataryholds a Bachelor of Laws degree (honors) from the University of London and a legal education certificate (L.E.C.) from Hugh Wooding Law School. She was called to the Bar in 2012 and is a member of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Savy is trained in mediation and negotiation.

She is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants of the United Kingdom and a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago.

Savatary has over 25 years’ experience the field of Accounting, Management, Taxation and Corporate Secretarial, and is knowledgeable in local and international taxation. She has a wealth of experience working for prominent accounting firms, both public companies and private companies as well as charitable and religious organizations in Trinidad and Tobago and abroad. Her vast experience in addition to her breadth of knowledge both locally and internationally has gained her recognition for outstanding service.

Chevonne Garcia obtained her Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree with Distinction from the University of Toronto,before pursuing her Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. She attained her Master of Laws in the United Kingdom at the University of Law previously known as College of Law.

RAJKAVIR A.G. SINGH

Rajkavirobtained his Bachelor of Law with Honors at the University of London and his Legal Practice Certificate at the College of Law Moorgate.His areas of specialty are Corporate-Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution.

His skillset and temperament evoke a client centered practice with the ability to approach and explain situations quite comprehensively whilst rendering advice to a cross section of clientele. He has represented a host of both high profile private and corporate clientele both in active litigation and parallel to that through various avenues of alternative dispute resolution with an impressive success rate.
